Thirteen years later Kanga and Pollyanna meet again at the little cemetery by St Rose of Lima Church and walk along the shoulder of busy Clopper Rd to the metal gate across from Seneca Creek State Park. The Greenway Trail here is overgrown and brushy; socks pick up burrs and poison ivy threatens. A deer races along the horizon as raindrops rattle on the forest canopy.
